Pioneer country performer Alcyone Bate Beasley describes her career starting in the late 1920s. Discussion includes memories of her father, Dr. Humphrey Bate, and performing with his country music band in 1925; memories as one of the earliest performers to appear on the Grand Ole Opry; experiences traveling as part of the first group from WSM to do road appearances; comments on the inauthentic hillbilly image; memories of her father's band, the Possum Hunters; experiences traveling with the Camel Caravan in 1941; and comments on the early days of the Opry and some of the first performers, including Deford Bailey.

Country music performer. Born March 20, 1946. Best-known as Ranger Doug from Riders in the Sky, a cowboy revival act he co-founded in 1977.
